On August 20, 2019 the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks approved amendments to the Trent Source Protection Plan, Assessment Report and Explanatory Document. The amendment includes:

  • An expanded and revised water quality protection area around the new and existing wells of the Norwood drinking water system
  • Updated source protection plan mapping

Notice of the amendment can be found on the Environmental Bill of Rights registry, post #019-0273

The source protection authority completed the amendments in accordance with the legislative and regulatory requirements set out in the Clean Water Act, 2006 and Ontario Regulation 287/07(General).

The amendments take effect upon posting on the Environmental Registry.

2018 Annual Progress Reports for Trent and Ganaraska Source Protection Plans - Now Available

The Source Protection Committee has approved the 2018 Annual Progress Report on the Trent and Ganaraska Source Protection Plans which have been submitted to the Ministry. This progress report documents the achievements made thus far to implement Source Protection Plan policies which work to protect our local municipal drinking water sources. PUBLIC NOTICE: Consultation on Proposed Amendments to Trent Assessment Report and Trent Source Protection Plan

Recent upgrades to the Norwood Municipal Well System have changed the area where specific activities can be a drinking water threat. Amendments to the Trent Assessment Report and the Trent Source Protection Plan have been proposed to reflect these changes.

Pursuant to the Clean Water Act, 2006 Section 34(3) and Ontario Regulation 287/07, Section 50(1) and (4), the public is invited to comment on proposed amendments to the Trent Assessment Report and Trent Source Protection Plan.
