Consultation on Proposed Amendments to Trent Assessment Report and Source Protection Plan

Pursuant to the CLEAN WATER ACT, 2006 s.34(3) and O. Reg. 287/07 s.50(1) and (4)

 

The public is invited to comment on proposed amendments to the Trent Assessment Report and Source Protection Plan.

The approved Trent Assessment Report (2014) identifies and evaluates threats to drinking water quality.

The approved Trent Source Protection Plan (2014) contains policies that address the identified threats.

Recent changes to the Stirling Municipal Drinking Water System have resulted in adjustments to the areas where certain activities are considered to be drinking water threats. Updates to the Trent Assessment Report and Source Protection Plan have been proposed to reflect these changes.

MINISTRY APPROVES AMENDMENTS TO TRENT SOURCE PROTECTION PLAN

 

On August 20, 2019 the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks approved amendments to the Trent Source Protection Plan, Assessment Report and Explanatory Document. The amendment includes:

  • An expanded and revised water quality protection area around the new and existing wells of the Norwood drinking water system
  • Updated source protection plan mapping

The source protection authority completed the amendments in accordance with the legislative and regulatory requirements set out in the Clean Water Act, 2006 and Ontario Regulation 287/07(General).

The amendments take effect upon posting on the Environmental Registry.
