The Source Protection Committee has approved the 2021 Annual Progress Report on the Trent and Ganaraska Source Protection Plans which have been submitted to the Ministry. This progress report documents the achievements made thus far to implement Source Protection Plan policies which work to protect our local municipal drinking water sources. Individual reports for each of the Trent and Ganaraska Source Protection plans can be found in our Reports & Legislation section. The next Source Protection Committee (SPC) meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, May 19th, 2022 at 1:00PM.

On February 2, 2022 the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks approved amendments to the Trent Source Protection Plan and Assessment Report. The amendment includes:

• A revised water quality protection area around the new and existing wells of the Colborne drinking water system
• Updated source protection plan mapping
• Updated Assessment Report figures

Notice of the amendment can be found on the Environmental Bill of Rights registry, ERO Number 019-4862.

The source protection authority completed the amendments in accordance with the legislative and regulatory requirements set out in the Clean Water Act, 2006 and Ontario Regulation 287/07(General).

The amendments took effect upon posting on the Environmental Registry.
