I live near a Drinking Water Source Protection road sign – What does that mean?
There are a number of drinking water threats such as the application of commercial fertilizer, storage of large volumes of fuel, or application of manure that have the potential to impact your municipal drinking water source. If you live in a Drinking Water Source Protection zone, it means that these and a handful of other threats have policies in place to help protect the water source.
You can help ensure safe drinking water in your area by checking out our interactive map here. It will allow you to determine if your property is in a vulnerable area, the drinking water threats in your zone and the policies that apply to you. You also can read summaries on each drinking water system and learn about its water source, treatment system and serviced population.
