There are a number of drinking water threats such as the application of commercial fertilizer, storage of large volumes of fuel, or application of manure that have the potential to impact your municipal drinking water source. If you live in a Drinking Water Source Protection zone, it means that these and a handful of other threats have policies in place to help protect the water source.

You also can read summaries on each drinking water system and learn about its water source, treatment system and serviced population.

Under the Clean Water Act, a Source Protection Committee representing multiple stakeholders is required for each source protection region in Ontario. A Source Protection Committee oversees all matters of the Source Protection Region.
