Source Protection Plans

The Source Protection Plans for the Trent Conservation Coalition Source Protection Region are now in effect. These plans, approved by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (October 2014) set out policies to protect water sources supplying 53 municipal drinking water systems within the 14, 500 square kilometer region. The plans are a requirement of Ontario’s Clean Water Act, which was passed in 2006, as a response to the Province’s inquiry into the Walkerton drinking water tragedy.
